The Western Colorado Conservation Corps offers a unique opportunity for youth ages 14-25 to work and learn in an outdoor setting. WCCC is committed to improving the lives of our employees through a variety of local conservation projects. We work in and around the Grand Junction area, including the Colorado National Monument, Grand Mesa, Black Canyon, and many more areas of pristine land.
"More important, however, than the material gains will be the moral and spiritual value of such work." President Roosevelt in promotion of the establishment of the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930's.

WCCC goes solar:
WCCC is working with High Noon Solar (a local Grand Junction company) and Xcel Energy to install a 10 kilowatt grid-tied photovoltaic system. This system will produce approximately 15,500 KWh per year and saves around 33,350 pounds of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere each year.

Corpsmembers will be working within crews of 6-9 of their peers on various conservation projects around the western Colorado area. Corpsmembers earn a wage, plus food and lodging when required to camp at project site. Experiential job training takes place primarily in a backcountry setting and involves, but is not limited to building and maintaining trails and fences, invasive species removal, and habitat restoration. Learn to camp, cook, orienteer, and live in a community situation. Corpsmembers also have the opportunity to earn up to $2,362.50, in addition to an hourly wage, from an Americorps Education Award (restrictions apply).
