 Education Mentor
 
Duties:

The Education Mentor provides a minimum of two hours of environmental education, laid out by the Colorado Outdoor Odyssey, per week. The Education Mentor will coordinate with the crew leader for the other mandatory two hours of education. Education must total four hours per week. The Education Mentor will also coordinate with the crew leader to advise the supervisor of any safety issues, behavior problems within the crew, and technical support. He/she will also assist with paperwork as needed and requested by the Crew Leader. The Education Mentor must familiarize him/herself with the WCCC and the CYCA curriculum. The Education Mentor must turn in paper work for their education for each project after it is completed.

Requirements:

The candidate must:
  • Have a minimum of 4 months experience with a youth conservation corps
  • Be familiar with the AmeriCorps Education Award program either as an alumni or a current member
  • Be highly motivated and have a strong desire to teach
  • Have succeeded in several of his/her short-term goals
